The California Women's baseball league, in congruence with its mission to make the game of baseball more accessible to girls and women, have collaborated with the Jr. Giants baseball leagues to help teach young girls the fundamentals of the game of baseball.

The Jr. Giants, a project sponsored by the San Francisco Giants Community Fund, is a free baseball league program for youth (boys AND girls) from ages 5-18 who live in inner cities and rural suburbs in California, Oregon and Nevada.

The CWBL has conducted several "Jr Giants Girls Clinics" over the last couple of years for many of the young girls involved in their local Jr. Giants leagues. We have held clinics in community parks, on minor league baseball fields (Fresno Grizzlies), and even at AT&T Park in San Francisco after a SF Giants game.

The CWBL knows the importance of athletics for young girls as we were once young girls ourselves. We also know that there have been several research studies which have indicated that participation in sports enhances body image and self-esteem, increases confidence, and reduces the risk of many physiological and psychological conditions. It has also been found that female athletes have a lower school drop out rate, are more likely to go to college, and are less likely to get pregnant as teens than non-athlete girls. For these reasons, and for our desire to pass on the love of the game of baseball, the CWBL is proud to be involved in the community and with young girls in such a way.
